And now the owning up bit. Annie took this photo after I mockingly told her there was no change of getting a decent wildlife shot with the Kodak V705 that I always use. I have to say she did well, even though the picture you see here has spent a good while being re-arranged, sharpened and enhanced using half the dirty tricks in the Photoshop arsenal of deception. The eagle eyed may spot that there is no reflection from the canal wall!
definitely a heron - i've seen one or two on the canal. I'm told they nest somewhere on the land behind Naysmith Avenue in Denton.
Then I don't need to ask what that tower is!I'm a big fan of PhotoshopI used it extensively here.http://ashtonian.smugmug.com/photos/490668257_XWo3y-M.jpg
I don't know what the tower is either. I didn't add it. Can't tell that your pic is Photoshopped.
It's the tower at the new fire station at Guide Bridge:http://www.ashton-under-lyne.com/images/aul367.jpg
Amazing Martin. How could you have recognised the tower from an upside down wobbly reflection!
Because I know that stretch of canal very well!
