Ladysmith Barracks

I’m just old enough to remember when this barracks was still open. Or at least I remember that there wasn’t a housing estate behind the archway. There has been for many years now. Only this arch and gate remains from the original barracks built in 1845. It finally closed in 1960.

No one about. Didn't look like they were loading or unloading. Nothing else there. Just an abandoned old washing machine on Mossley Road.
