Saddleworth, Delph

A quiet village in Saddleworth. Nothing ever happens here. One horse town. So to see a Hummer trundling past the local pub, The Swan Inn, raises eyebrows of the locals somewhat.

  1. Love the small village. When I think of England - this is what I picture.

  2. Ah, occasionally things do happen here.
Delph features in the odd movie like Yanks, Brassed off and The Parole Officer.
Cast, crew and onlookers everywhere then!

Also it gets a bit hectic every year around Whit Friday when people from all over the world come to compete in one of the biggest Brass Band Competitions. See a similar view up the same street then:

Not too much room for Hummers then, but the other 364 days are pretty peaceful!

  3. Terri, you’re right. All England is exactly like this ;-)

  4. Ah, yes Nick. Thought I might be caught out by someone who actually knows Delph. You are of course correct. I’ve been to many a Whit Friday band contest in and around Delph, and also did know about some of the movies shot around the area. Forgive me for using some poetic licence in an effort to show up the unusual Hummer. And yes, I also know that a Hummer in Saddleworth is not totally off the wall these days. You need plenty money to live in Saddleworth now. I moved away years ago and now cannot afford to move back there.
